What happens when my connected account expires?
Why connections expire after 90 days — and how to easily reconnect.
Lyfeguard uses Open Finance to connect to your financial accounts. For security and regulatory reasons, your account connections are valid for 90 days from the date you first authorise access.
This means:
-
You can see your balances and transactions in real time
-
But after 90 days, the connection expires automatically
-
You’ll need to reauthorise access to keep data updating
✅ How to reconnect:
-
Head to the Finance Lyfehub
-
Look for the account marked as expired
-
Click “Reconnect” or “Reauthorise”
-
Follow the secure authentication steps — just like when you first connected
Once reauthorised, Lyfeguard will resume syncing your data automatically.
⚠️ Note: Your data is never lost — even if a connection expires, all previously synced information stays safely stored.
🧠 Why does this happen?
This is a regulatory requirement under UK Open Finance and PSD2 legislation. It’s designed to protect your privacy and ensure that you stay in control of your financial data at all times.
